There are no miracles in Ohio

Ohio
There are no miracles in Ohio.
The state just cannot catch a break.
No there are no miracles in Ohio,
just a fading hope for escape.

There are no miracles in Ohio.
No way to make it okay.
No one to deliver the hope,
to a heartland wrought with decay.

There are no miracles in Ohio.
No underdogs poised to shine.
No last second victors, no hero’s,
no winners parading today.

There are no miracles in Ohio.
None as far as the eye can see.
Lost in a sea of subsidized corn,
the promise of what we would be.

There are no miracles in Ohio.
Even the Buckeye’s can’t put one away.
No there are no miracles in Ohio,
oh how did we all go astray?

There are no miracles in Ohio.
But there will be again someday.

Whatever!

Whatever universe. You think you’re so BIG…so TUFF…well you’re not. You’re just a big (really big) ball of itty bitty bits of nothing all piled together and spread around. You like to make things interesting, I get that. But seriously, lay the F off! I’m not joking around here. One more outburst, one more curve ball, one more life altering challenge and who knows what I might do.

I might punch you right square in the face, and you know what? You’d deserve it. No one would say a word. None of your universal buddies would stand up and say: “Hey! Don’t hit my friend!” –Nope. They’d just sit there and watch while your stupid bloody universe nose bled all over your stupid shirt. And when that happens (and it will my obnoxious friend) be careful how you respond. A wrongish look and kapow! Another devastating blow to your stupid universe face. More blood, and teeth this time, rattling on the floor.

You’ve been warned.

Ambiguous Advice

Sometimes when someone tells you not to do a particular thing you just need to listen.  You may be thinking, this is just a silly thing and they are being silly for making such a fuss over it.  But it’s what you don’t know, and what they may not want to tell you, that makes it such a big deal.  You never know what may have happened in a persons past and you’re definitely going to feel like a huge ass if you push them too far only to find out why they told you not to do whatever it was you were doing.

I’ll not be sharing the details of what I did but know that on its surface it was totally innocent.  But when I finally pushed to hard the truth was told and, well, I’m a huge ass.

Implied Mortality?

“What’s implied mortality mean?”

Well I’ll tell you.  It’s the notion that one’s mortality is only implied and not, as most would presume, guaranteed.  That is until you’re dead…

Of course once you die it seems obvious that your mortality was there all along.  But what if you don’t die?  What if you waste all sorts of time and energy trying to avoid what isn’t there? 

That would be tragic.  Almost as tragic as death itself.

It’s a fine line we must walk between protecting this seemingly fragile and intolerably short life and actually enjoying what little time we have.
